Dear Mount View Community,
I take great pride in sharing the results of our first Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) school report card with you. I am happy to report that we have been designated a Five-Star School by MSDE. Additionally, we are the highest performing middle school in Howard County and the second highest performing middle school in Maryland. Such distinction can not be attributed to only one factor or variable. However, I believe it is the combination of excellent teachers, high-quality instruction, devoted family support and wonderful students.
The MSDE report card provides a snapshot of how our school is performing based on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) indicators, which include academic achievement, academic progress, rate of chronic absenteeism and access to a well-rounded curriculum. The report provides insight into areas in which the school is doing well and areas where improvement is needed. The results that our schools receive will provide valuable insights that will be used as a measuring stick for school growth, and as a baseline measure from which to assess improvement in subsequent years. You can find our full MSDE report card at the MSDE Website. Additional information about ESSA can be found on the HCPSS Website.
Our mission at Mount View Middle School is to ensure academic success and social-emotional well-being for every student in a nurturing and inclusive environment. While we are very proud of our accomplishments on the MSDE report card, we will continue to work towards that mission every day. We will be humble in our achievements and persistent in our efforts to continually improve to meet the needs of our students.
Thank you for your continued support of Mount View Middle School.
Sincerely,
Allen Cosentino
Principal
