The ViewPoint

September 25, 2020

Dear Falcon Families,

It is with great joy that I announce that The U.S. Department of Education recently recognized Mount View Middle School as one of 367 National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2020. Mount View was selected for the Exemplary High Performing Schools category, which honors the state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests. This acknowledgement of our students’ success as an example of how teachers, parents, and community leaders can work together to help students achieve academic and extracurricular mastery. Congratulations! Our community is an awesome example of love, support, and passion for children and content blended to support each Falcon.

Thanks for Your Support,

Lynnette Moore
Principal

MAP Assessments

On Wednesday October 7th and 14th, MHMS students will take the Measured Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. The data from the MAP assessment will help schools and teachers measure where your child is starting the year academically. The HCPSS intends to also give the assessment in winter and spring to measure how your child’s learning is progressing throughout the year. The MAP test does not affect grades and the difficulty adjusts depending on how your child responds. It is normal for students to only answer about half the questions correctly. To learn more about the MAP assessment, please visit: https://www.nwea.org/the-map-suite/common-questions-families/

  • The MAP Reading assessment will be administered on Wednesday October 7th at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (students enrolled in 8th Grade GT ELA, are exempt from the MAP Reading assessment).
  • The MAP Math assessment will be administered on Wednesday, October 14th at 9 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (7th Grade Algebra students, 8th grade Algebra students, and 8th Grade Geometry students are exempt from the MAP Math assessment),
  • Students may choose to attend either the morning or the afternoon session. If your child is unable to attend, makeup testing will be offered during asynchronous learning times.
  • Teachers will share Google Meet information and your student’s testing group as we get closer to the Oct 7th date. It is important that students are present in their Monday morning Flex period to receive technology updates and login information.
  • Please reach out to Assistant Principal, Kimberly Hess Kimberly_Hess@hcpss.org if you have any questions.

The logistics for this year's program are currently being laid out, but we wanted to get creative juices flowing.
