Message from the Health Room about Vaccinations and Medicines

Thu, 05/17/2018 - 9:00am

Effective next school year 2018-2019, the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene requires all 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th grade students in the state of Maryland to have a single dose of Tdap and a single dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) before entering school.

If the health room does not have documentation of the Tdap & MCV4 vaccines on file for your child, a letter indicating need of immunizations is attached to your child’s 4th quarter interim report card.  Please review the letter for further information.  Having your child’s updated immunization record on file prior to the end of this school year will help eliminate the possibility of exclusion from school at the start of 7th grade in September.  Please contact the health room at 410-313-5550 if you have any further questions.

The Health Room will be open to accept student medications on the following days from 7:00am -2:30pm:  August 24, 27, 28, 30 & 31st.  The Health Room will be closed on Wednesday, 08/29 for offsite meetings.  We will also continue to accept medications during school hours once school starts on September 4th.  Please remember that medications require a signed doctor’s order and should be dated after July 1st.  Medication order forms & procedures may be found on the HCPSS website.  Please contact the health room at 410-313-5550 for any further questions.  Thank you!
