Dear Mount View Community,
I hope your summer has been exciting and filled with wonderful memories. The school has been very quiet this summer. Mount View is not the same without all our wonderful students. We are finalizing our preparations and almost ready to welcome back the staff on August 24th for Mount View’s 25th year of exemplary education. I would like to share some information to assist you with your back-to-school preparation. Enjoy the remainder of summer break. We are excited for another great year of teaching and learning at Mount View Middle School.
Sincerely,
Allen Cosentino
Please join me in welcoming the following people to the Falcon Family.
Bus schedules will be updated by mid-August. You may access your child’s assigned bus and other transportation information on the HCPSS transportation web page. The transportation office has modified Mount View bus routes over the summer to better serve our community. Keep in mind that it takes at least a week for bus arrival times to be fully accurate. We recommend arriving at the bus stop 15 minutes prior to scheduled pick-up time. Thank you for your understanding.
Schedules and lockers will be provided to sixth graders and students new to Mount View during orientation on August 31. All other students will receive their schedules and locker assignments during homeroom on the first day of school. Be sure to check your child’s backpack on the first day of school for the welcome folder containing required paperwork and other important information. Homeroom information will be posted on the school website by August 31.
Reminder to parents of incoming 7th grade students: Effective on September 5th, the first day of school, the following immunizations are required by the state of Maryland for all students entering grade 7.
Many students may have already received these immunizations, but the health room may not have the updated immunization record. Please check your child’s doctor and send an updated copy of your child’s immunization record to the health room.
Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect and selecting the Family File tab and then clicking on Family File. Once logged in, parents/guardians will be asked to provide or update the following information:
• Student information
• Parent/guardian contact
• Emergency contacts
• Medical information
• Arrival/dismissal procedures
• Media release (photo approval)
• Data confidentiality
• PTA/PTSA directory
Changes of address may not be made through Family File. If you have recently moved, please contact your child’s school as soon as possible. For students who are bus riders, please note that bus numbers and routes shown in Family File may be subject to change. Please check the school and bus locator on the HCPSS website after August 16. Resources on how to access Family File may be found online. Parents who have forgotten their login credentials may click the “Forgot Password” link on the sign in page. If you need additional assistance, please fill out this Connect Help Form.
Students may enter the building before school starts to purchase cereal, muffins, juice and other breakfast items for $2.00. The price for school lunch this year is $3.25 and milk may be purchased separately for $.50.
The Food and Nutrition Services Department is pleased to announce it will continue to an Online Processing System for Free and Reduced Meal applications. You may access more information and the application at www.hcpss.org/food-services/farms. This online system allows parents privacy in completing the application and receiving notification of status. A new application must be completed every year. Paper applications are also available upon request.
Pertinent school information will be sent out weekly via email as The View Point. Other important information can be found on the school’s website.
