Principal's Corner

Dear Mount View Middle School Community,

Spring break is over and the fourth quarter is underway.  Before you know it, June will be here.  In the meantime, there is a lot we still have to accomplish here at Mount View.  I would like to share two items that are important this week at Mount View Middle School.

First, it is my sincere pleasure to announce that Mrs. Barb Sharbaugh was been named the Howard County Public School System World Language Teacher of the Year.  Mrs. Sharbaugh is humbled by this recognition, but anyone who has seen her instruction would know it is very well deserved.  Mrs. Sharbaugh is a student-centered teacher who is always focused on making her instruction engaging for her students.  I am always impressed by her enthusiasm and dedication to her profession.  Well done Mrs. Sharbaugh!

This week marks the beginning of PARCC testing at Mount View.  PARCC, the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, assesses student’s current academic performance and determines a student’s readiness for the next grade level, by high school and to be ready for college and/or a career.  PARCC is also designed to provide teachers with more information to improve instruction.  Please assist your child in being ready for PARCC by getting a good night of rest, eating a healthy breakfast and being on time to school.  Additional parent information about PARCC can be found here.

Thank you for your continued support for Mount View Middle School.

Sincerely,
Allen Cosentino
Principal
