Dear Mount View Community,

What a year it has been at Mount View Middle School!  It is hard to believe summer vacation is only days away.  I may be one of only people to feel a little somber about summer vacation.  While students and staff are excited to take a break and enjoy the summer, I always have a little sadness in my heart on the last day of school.  I am going to miss everyone.  I love all of the wonderful aspects of an ordinary day at school.  Each day is never the same and it is always interesting.  I enjoy the time with colleagues, our wonderful students, the lessons taught, the bustle of the halls and the energy at recess.  I love it all because learning is life and there is always a lot of life at Mount View.

The school becomes a large and lonely place over the summer.  Summer break arrives and the halls are quiet and classrooms are empty for a few months.  Gone are the smiles, laughter and enthusiasm our students bring to school every day. The break will be longer than usual because we only had one snow day this year and school does not start for students until September 5.  I already have the date circled on my calendar and it won’t be long before we get rolling again. I can’t wait!

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the students, staff and parents of Mount View Middle School.  We have all worked very hard over the year and our accomplishments are too numerous to mention.  A big thank you goes to our students who have persevered and demonstrated fine progress in all academic areas. They continued to amaze us with their skills, creatively and most importantly, kindness.

A special thank you to all the dedicated faculty of Mount View.  They have worked tirelessly to provide a productive and positive learning climate where opportunities for quality instruction, creativity and academic achievement for each student were accomplished. They are among the best teachers the profession has to offer and we are fortunate to have their services here at Mount View.

I am very proud of our departing 8th grade students.  Middle school has been quite a transition for them.  Most of our eighth graders will only be across the street, but they mature so fast in high school and are young adults in the blink of an eye.  We will miss them more than they know. Best of luck and remember your home at Mount View.

It continues to be my honor to serve the Mount View community.  Have a safe and relaxing summer.

Sincerely,

Allen Cosentino
