The ViewPoint

June 23, 2020

Falcons, we have come to our final 2019-20 Weekly ViewPoint Newsletter. Yes, summer break is here! As we close the school year we would like to thank you for supporting students and staff during Continuity of Learning. we valued your partnership as we transitioned to a new modality of school and learning. Ending of the school year is hard for us all this year. Typically, we see our students off for the summer by blowing bubbles and waving goodbye from our bus lane/car loop; however, we have been able to engage with students through varies engagement opportunities these last couple of days of school which has been terrific for us as a school community.

As we depart for summer break, I wish you all peace, joy, and health.

Ms. Moore,  Principal

Summer Wellness and Self-Care

Self care: The practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.

Wellness: An active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life.

This summer consider practicing wellness and self-care activities for yourself and with your family. When we include acts of self-care in our lives we are nurturing ourselves.

Self-care practice ideas for students and their families:
5 minute meditation to start or end your day, positive affirmations, yoga, a walk in your neighborhood with mindful intentions and without distractions.

Exercise daily, reflect and take time to focus on your breathing, make an effort to get enough sleep, practice daily gratitude and take time to enjoy your hobbies and/or start a new hobby.

Wellness Videos:

Hoberman Sphere Breathing

A deep breath exercise when students need a break or time to calm down.

The video offers all students the opportunity to follow along with a hoberman sphere when they practice their breathing.

Be Kind To Yourself Compassionate Practice

Sometimes it's easier to be kind to others than it is to be kind to yourself. Learn how to give yourself some loving kindness with this exercise. Take time and practice self-compassion with the mindful video.

From Our Administrators

As we draw close to the end of the 2019-2020 school year we want to uplift the strength and resiliency of the Mount View Middle School Community.  No one could have imagined a year ending the way that this school year is ending, and we want to thank you for your grace as we have navigated through these unprecedented times.

The MVMS staff has worked hard to support all of our students and all of our families, and while it is recognized that everything was not always done with perfection, we hope that all of you know that we did all that we did with care and with love for our school community.

The staff at MVMS have put together some really exciting activities for students for the last 3 days of school (6/19, 6/22 and 6/23).  These activities give everyone a chance to celebrate the end of the year.  All details are posted in the student resource course on CANVAS and are all optional.  Congratulations to all students on another successful year of middle school.  We are so proud of you and we look forward to engaging with you during our last three days of activities. There will be no class google meets during these days.

Thanks for Your Support,

Ms. Moore and Ms. Hess
