Important Dates
The 7th grade field trip to Mt. Pleasant Farm at the Howard County Conservancy scheduled for Monday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 15, 2013 has been postponed
The 7th grade team is in the process of rescheduling the field trip for the Spring.  This change will allow additional opportunities for students to complete the direct action component of their Student Service Learning project.  Please feel free to contact
Mrs. Poknis
(melanie_poknis@hcpss.org) with any questions or concerns.

Tips for Success

1. Visit teacher Edmodo pages! This will allow your child to easily check for homework and important announcements.

2. Check the HCPSS Parent Portal on a regular basis for updated grades and missing assignments.

3. Email is the most efficient method to contact your child's teacher.  Teachers periodically check their email during the school day.  Most teachers only check their phone messages in the front office one time per school day.

 FIRST QUARTER

A warm welcome back to  the eighth grade class!

We hope you had an enjoyable summer and are ready to begin your final year as a middle school student. With hard work, dedication and motivation, all students can achieve greatness.  It is important that students, parents and teachers work together to create an environment at school and home that encourages life-long teaching and learning, personal responsibility and continued growth and support.

The time is now ... Engagement and Motivation

  • Time to collaborate - students, teachers and parents working together
  •  Time to check in and out on our students both academically and socially
  •  Time to challenge  - utilize the skills and knowledge we have and extend them
  • Time to embrace a caring classroom community – acknowledging, accepting and embracing diverse learners
  •  Time for choice- make good decisions for yourself, while being considerate of others
  • Time to celebrate - be proud of yourself and others for small and large accomplishments
